Snowfall prevented race - only one test day

Zimmermann-Porsche Cayman at the first NLS race at the Nürburgring

The first race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) was to kick off the 2021 motorsport season in the Eifel region. Although the timed race of the 66th ADAC Westfalenfahrt was started on time in the morning, the red flag came out after a few minutes due to incipient snowfall. Around noon, the event was finally cancelled. Mathol team boss Matthias Holle: "So in the end there was only one test day left for us. On Friday, the outside conditions were quite good, but once again the test session was interrupted for a good 1.5 hours with the red flag after an accident. That was very annoying."

Mathol Racing will also field the fast Zimmermann Porsche 718 Cayman S in the VT3 class in the 2021 season. Team boss Holle: "At almost all rounds, we will also use the Zimmermann-Porsche Cayman S in the V6 class. Alternating lineups are planned as drivers there."

During the Friday test, Zimmermann regular drivers Wolfgang Weber and Alex Fielenbach drove the Zimmermann Cayman. The duo covered numerous laps and completed an extensive functional test for the upcoming season. Weber: "The car was good right from the start. After we made some changes to the chassis, we were able to set fast lap times. The braking system is top notch after the developments from last season. That makes us optimistic for the tasks ahead."
