No luck in the race and bad luck afterwards ...

Mathol Racing fielded two Zimmermann Porsches at the NLS opener

Two Zimmermann Porsches entered by Mathol Racing competed in the first race of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS), the 67th ADAC Westfalenfahrt. Although only one car saw the checkered flag, the result achieved did not match the performance shown. Mathol team boss Matthias Holle: "It was an unfortunate race day for our team today. We had a technical defect due to invisible quality defects in components that were still in the first 50 percent of their scheduled usage time. On top of that, we were disallowed a top result because the race organizers penalized us for something we didn't do."

In the new one-make cup "Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring", the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in Zimmermann design competed for the first time. With Arne Hoffmeister, Harri Prozcyk and Dorian Boccolacci, the team was able to sign up an experienced and fast driver trio. After practice, the Zimmermann Porsche was still in 10th position in the 12-strong one-make cup field. After setup optimization, the team quickly worked its way to the front in the race. When final driver Boccolacci, flown in by helicopter from an event in Spa-Francorchamps, took the wheel, the Zimmermann Porsche was already in 4th place. At the finish line, the team celebrated 2nd place and an incredible 16th place overall. But the joy was short-lived. Team boss Holle: "A great performance, which I had not expected at the beginning of the season. On the way to the award ceremony, however, we learned that we had been given a 3-minute time penalty after the race because one driver had not driven. This is wrong, because all three drivers mentioned drove. But the race control did not want to see the driving proof, because for organizational / regulatory reasons a result correction was no longer possible, we would have had to complain 3 minutes before ... No comment!"

In the VT3 class, the well-known fast and reliable Zimmermann Porsche 718 Cayman S competed. Due to a short-term and hopefully temporary retirement of long-time regular driver Wolfgang Weber, the first race was to be contested by Erik Braun, Franz Dwizok and Jörg Kittelmann. However, the race was already over after the first lap. Team boss Holle: "Friday evening the dampers of the rear axle were optimized by the factory service of the manufacturer. But that didn't work at all, the damping performance was completely inadequate and for safety reasons we withdrew the Porsche."
